Angular Contact Ball Bearings

Angular contact ball bearings have the inner ring and outer ring raceways that are offset relative to each other in the axial direction. As a result, the line through the points of contact between the ball and the raceways is not perpendicular to the bearing axis but makes an angle less than 90 degrees and is defined as the contact angle. This means that they can carry significant axial loads alongwith radial loads.

The axial load carrying capacity of angular contact ball bearings increases with increasing contact angle. Since an axial component is generated when a radial load is applied, these bearings are generally used in pairs or sets.

Like deep groove ball bearings, the rolling resitance in angular contact ball bearings is also very low making them highly suitable for high speed and low starting torque applications. Super finished raceways and high grade balls make them quiet in operation and low in vibration.
